Cannot Categorize Calendar Events

Hello,

As an Executive Assistant at my company, one of my main tasks is to organize the calendar of those that I support. I have been delegated the correct permissions to do so. IT has uninstalled/reinstalled Microsoft Office multiple times and for some reason I am still unable to add new/edit/rename color categories on their calendars. That portion is greyed out. I can do it on my personal calendar but not on theirs.

Can you please assist?

Thank you,

Lydy

    hi De Paul,

Sorry about the delay -- it has been a crazy week. Let me answer your questions below:

    1. When it started? It has been happening for a few months now.
    2. What version of Outlook are you using? Our organization uses Office 365 Enterprise I believe.
    3. What type of email account configuration they have? I am not sure how to find this information as it doesn't show under Account Settings. How can I check if it is indeed an IMAP config?
    4. Is it possible to categorize a calendar event by right-clicking on it and choose categorize? I can categorize with already set up categories that the other folks have set up. I can also create and categorize my own calendar. But I cannot add, remove, edit the categories on the calendars from those whom I support. It is greyed out.

    Hi Lydy Vega,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Forum.According to your description, you said that that you are unable to Categorize Calendar Events. To better understand your issue, could you please tell me:

    1. When it started?
    2. What version of Outlook are you using?
    3. What type of email account configuration they have?
    4. Is it possible to categorize a calendar event by right-clicking on it and choose categorize? I recommend doing an online repair for your Office to see if it helps Repair an Office application (microsoft.com).

Please be informed that color categories are not supported by IMAP configuration. Hence, if they use an IMAP account, they will not be able to categorize their contacts and calendar by colors.

Looking forward to hearing from you.Best Regards, De Paul
