400 Error when trying to sync gmail

I'm trying to use Microsoft 365 office suite.

I cannot sync gmail to my Outlook.

I keep getting an error 400 page.

I have spent 2 days with online chat help and have used the MS Analyzer tool.

All I got was a suggestion to add another alias from chat help & Contact my administrator from the tool.

I've tried everything I can think of. And...to rub salt in the wound, Some outlook window randomly popped up with everything synced, then disappeared.

Anyone else have this problem and find an answer?

Thanks

The error is specifically with the method in my previous screenshot - using mail apps connect direct to the gmail server and will work. That syncs the gmail account to Microsoft servers so they can display it in the outlook on the web interface. since they upgraded the interface, users have been getting the 400 error. It's nothing you did wrong - its an error on the server and Microsoft needs to fix it.

    Thanks Diane

I just tried opening the Outlook app installed on my computer, using my gmail profile.

It worked fine. This must have been the mystery window that came up during the mess yesterday.

It's the old ugly Outlook display.

I then closed everything down and tried the Microsoft365 app installed on my Edge browser.

    That's where the problem is.

I tried using a couple of profiles, but had the same 400 error result.

I then went to the link in the Microsoft 365 feature page and tried that.

    Same 400 error.

My android phone app works fine.

Thanks for your suggestions. At least I have a workable connection.

Not sure how it is going to work when I'm back in the field using multiple devices.

But one thing at a time.

    Cheers, Colin

    Hello Colin

You are receiving this error in Outlook desktop software or in Outlook on the web?

There is a "known issue" in Outlook on the web where the gmail account returns a 400 error. It's a server-side error and seems to come and go - mine failed yesterday, is working today.

If you are getting that error in outlook software installed on your desktop, when does the error come up? Try making a new profile with only the gmail account in it.
