I use Outlook and have mindspring/earthlink as my email provider. There is a setting in Outlook or mindspring that whenever I delete things from the mindspring server it also deletes them out of my Outlook Inbox. How do I stop this?

I'm not a tech person so not sure I understand but I did find that the incoming mail is an IMAP. But then I also saw outgoing is POP? Would that be right? This never happened to me before until I bought this new laptop last year.
If the mail account is an IMAP type if you delete it will be deleted on all, how ever you access the mail account.
Its only a pop mail account that gives that type of control, ie leave a copy on the server when you download to the local PC
