Third party client connection after changing E-mail alias

I've cleaned up my Microsoft account and changed my primary email in the process. However, now none of my email clients can connect to the outlook mailbox. I'm also using 2FA and have created a fresh app password. I've tried both E-Mail addresses in combination with the app password but always receive NO LOGIN from the IMAP server. I've also made sure that sign in with the old outlook.com email is enabled.

Which username/password combination should be used for configuring third party mail clients?

Thank you for responding back and for confirming about the status of your concern. I am glad to know that everything is working now. It might be that there was a server issue during the time you were configuring your email. I hope that you will not encounter again the issue in the future.

After three days of continuously trying the same settings, they now miraculously work. It seems like propagation of either username changes or app passwords take some time. Anyway, thanks for the help

    Hi theSuess!

Thanks for getting back. My apologies for the late response.

First of all I would like to set your proper expectation that thunderbird is not a product of Microsoft. Now, to further assist you, I recommend that you check your email on the web to make sure you have the updated credentials for your Outlook account. Please click on this link here to login your account on Outlook.com. https://outlook.live.com/

After that you've checked your account on the web and everything is working, you may try again setting up your account on Thunderbird mail app and on your K9 mail app on your Android. If ever that the issue is still the same, I recommend that you reach out to the right support of your mail client. For Thunderbird you may contact Mozilla support. Thunderbird Help (mozilla.org) **** And on your K9 mail app on Android, you may try their In-app support by navigating their help option.

    Hope it helps.

    Sincerely,

It is a personal account with the email ending in @outlook.at. I'm using thunderbird as well as K9 mail on android.

I've already tried the settings from the screenshot, using my email address and app password as credentials, but this did not work

    Hello theSuess!

Welcome to the Microsoft Office Community Forum. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well.

I totally understand that you have concern about your Outlook email wherein you are having issues adding it to a third party client after changing email alias. Let's us check on this together and sort this out. Rest assured, I will do anything that I can to assist you with your concern.

    1. What specific email address you are having issues with? Just provide us the domain if it is on @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, @msn.com or something else?
    2. Is this a personal account or work/school account?
    3. What specific third party email client you are using?
    4. To configure your email on a third party mail client you will need to use the email address as your username and the password should be the app password that you've generated from Outlook.com. If you configure your Outlook email as an IMAP, you should be using this server settings from your account.

I look forward to your response.

    Sincerely,

    ReynaldoB
