IMAP Login Issue

Hi,

My colleague is struggling to log in to our shared email (gmail) address - possibly due to an IMAP issue?

We use the outlook application, 3 of us have access the same email account, and its never been an issue before.

Out of nowhere, she had repeated pop ups asking her to enter the password, and it said 'IMAP' at the top. She typed in the password, and it just immediately pops up again. Myself and other colleague have no issues.

I tried to assist with the issue by removing the account from the application completely, and then logging back in to the account, but now when we try to log in, the same pop up keeps appearing. We have since had an error code 0x80040119

I don't suppose anyone has experienced this issue, and can assist in any way?

Thank you.

    Hi, CerysMW

Thanks for posting into our community.

According to your description that your Gmail does not connect to the Exchange sever.

It is a fact that we received a lot feedback for the same issue that those customers solved it by using the two step verification on the Gmail server.

For more detailed information, please be kindly to ask the Gmail's support for the further assistance.

Thanks for your time and your understanding would be highly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Hi CerysMW,

this error is probably related to the forced 2FA settings from Google. Do you use a shared user and then only include the IMAP account for each of you?

If so, it is quite possible that the same behaviour will soon occur with your other users.

How to activate these settings is well described here in the Google forum: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185839

Alternative way with app passwords: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/185833?hl=de

The only strange thing is your generated error code, which refers to a broken PST file.

In order to fix this error, you should follow the steps below. Maybe you were spared from the 2FA for the time being.
