Outlook password verification loop error

Hi there,

When my Macbook Pro recently updated and it restarted, I had to input my password back into Outlook to view my emails. When I put in the "correct password" the system asks me to verify the password and sends me a verification code to my mobile. When I put the verification code into the system it asks me to enter my password again !

I can do this time and time again and it wont stop ! - Stuck in a password verification loop.

I am using a Macbook Pro with OS Monteray version 12.3.1 - I also use Microsoft 365. This has happened to me before and I spent a hour on the phone to a Microsoft call centre and they sorted it out but there is no such call centre support now as Microsoft don't provide phone support, which I fund staggering.

Can someone on here please help ??

    Hi Omar,

    Thanks for the update. If you are using 2-step verification may try using an app password (also known as an application password) to check this issue. This is a different password than your regular email account password.

    If the suggestion above doesn't help, please use the contact support option to report this issue and get the dedicated support within the Outlook for Mac for further assistance. Open Outlook and select Help > Contact Support.

    Hi Shyamal and thanks for your reply.

    I am using Microsoft 365 Family account that renews every year. The Outlook version says Version 16.60 (22041000).

    I have tried to disable 2-step verification and the issue still occurs.

    I have entered a new outlook profile in the verification/password loop still occurs.

    Please advise.

    Hi Omarsalam,

    May I know which Outlook 365 for Mac version you are using? Please provide us with the detailed information about the version, see About Office: What version of Office am I using?

    You may please try to disable and then re-enable 2-step verification/MFA settings to check this issue.

    If the above suggestion doesn't help, then please create a new Outlook profile and set up your affected email account to see whether the problem still occurs. For your reference: Manage profiles or identities in Outlook for Mac

    Note: Please do not delete the old profile.

    Moreover, you may also use the contact support option to report this issue and get the dedicated support within the Outlook for Mac for further assistance. Open Outlook and select Help > Contact Support.
