when I open my Outlook, a POP-3 identification box comes up and requests my email. I enter my password fdor that email account and it says that my server dows not recognize the password and blocks any incoming mail. What can I do? I have tried changing passwords and that did nothing. I am not sure what password they are looking for.

Can you please provide the answers to

#1 - Is this something that went from a working to non-working scenario?

#2 - Can you log into the email account via webmail (using a browser) without any issues?

Also just to confirm, the email settings your are using for this account are as outlined on Frontier's website for server name, port #s and encryption - correct?

In the interests of time, without knowing anything else, if this went from a working to non-working situation AND you can log into your account via webmail, a quick test to rule out a corrupt Outlook profile would be to create a new Outlook profile and configure the account again

    a) - With Outlook closed open the Control Panel <Mail> app

Just in case you need info regarding how to access the Control Panel Mail app, that's described in the following article by Outlook MVP Diane Poremsky

Where is the Control Panel Mail icon?

    https://www.slipstick.com/how-to-outlook/where-...

    If using Windows 11

How to Open Control Panel in Windows 11

    b) - Select <Show Profile> --> <Add> --> give the new profile a name (no need to remove the existing Outlook profile)

    c) - Configure your email account(s)

*** remember that a POP account MUST be manually configured. If you only enter the email address and password for the account, Outlook will configure the account using IMAP by default. Also be sure to use the existing PST file for the account instead of letting Outlook create a new one. If you are able to access the account without any issues, you should add any additional email accounts to this profile after verifying that everything is working.

    d) - Set the newly created Outlook profile as the default for the next time Outlook is opened otherwise it'll use the old profile

    Hello DianneSaari

Hi, I'm Karl and will be happy to help you today.

Can you provide a screenshot of what are referring to as a "POP-3 identification box"? It's not clear from the description if you are being asked for a password for the email account or the PST file associated with the POP account.

On the assumption that this related to the email account and not the PST file, who is the email service provider (ESP) for the account? (The part after the @character in the email address. Please don't include the full email address since that will get removed by the forum for security purposes?)

The reason for the above question is that some ESPs (i.e. Yahoo, AT&T, AOL, Verizon/AOL etc) require the use of an <App Password> as the email account password in the Outlook desktop program (part of Office)

In the interests of time - what version of the Outlook desktop program are you using?
