That means you need to go to gmail and create an app password in the security section and use it in place of your own password. https://myaccount.google.com/security

I use Outlook and I have a gmail email account. I have this problem quite often. I go to my mail and I click on send/receive and update folder and I get this box.

    Application-specific password required:

I have tried changing my password in imaps but it will not take any of them

    Hello Bonnie,

I'm Diane, an Office Apps & Services MVP specializing in Outlook, and I’m happy to help you today.

Are you using a Gmail account? If you are receiving a message that you need to use an app password, you need log into account.google.com and create an app password on the security page.
