Hello Barb

I'm Diane, an M365 Apps & Services MVP specializing in Outlook and I’m happy to help you today.

You have a few options- use a macro, create the task with the message attached (right click and drag - choose, copy as task with attachment) or drag the attachments from the reading pane to the open task, or copy the attachment before dragging the message to the task.

Copy selection to task & include attachments

    You're welcome!

The right-click method isn't perfect - it adds the email as an attachment - but the attachments are in the email, so its an easy way to keep the message & any attachments linked to the task.

Create the task with the message attached (right click and drag - choose, copy as task with attachment). All this time I've dragged it with a left click and didn't get the attachments. Thank you for an easy solution, glad I finally asked.
