Hello,

I need a standalone installer for outlook for windows desktop. I work as a professional in a tech industry, and I can honestly say installing the standalone Outlook app on my Mac was infinitely easier and less frustrating than this annoying circular process has been trying to find a way to access a standalone Outlook app on my new Windows machine. Ironic, that Microsoft chose to make the competitors experience more straightforward than their own internal experience. I greatly dislike what I consider to be "passive herding mechanisms," which is funny, because I would normally attribute that strategy more to Apple...but I see with this Outlook experience that Microsoft it starting to think that removing user choices is a good thing too...for user like myself, it's a terrible strategy.

Yes, I already have office installed.

Yes, outlook defaults to opening within a browser...no good...I need a standalone app.

Yes, I've googled for outlook standalone desktop installer, and just about every possible keyword variation of that.

Please, for the love of god, someone from Microsoft just provide a standalone Outlook desktop installer for windows...just like you already do for Apple Laptops. Treat your fanbase with some respect, and we'll keep spending. Squeeze us, and try to force our hand, and I for one, will gladly take my money elsewhere.

There is an offline installer for PC as well. If you are running a consumer license, you should see the offline installer option in your account at https://account.microsoft.com/services. Hi Dustin, my name is Neil, and I'm an Outlook user like you.

I'll be happy to answer your question.

If you already have Office installed, you should have the Outlook Desktop App installed as it is part of Office?

If you click your Windows Start button and go to All Apps and scroll down the list of Apps, you should find the Outlook App under 'O'.

If Outlook defaults to opening in a browser you either have a desktop web link icon for Outlook or you are using Outlook PWA (Personal Web App).

The actual Outlook App is definitely an App included with Office.

If you don't have this App for some reason, then you can go to https://www.office.com and sign into your account, you can also install Office from there by clicking on the "Install Office" button

You'll be given a choice if you want to download and install Office or download an Offline Installer.

Either way, you will get Outlook as part of Office and it doesn't matter if you already have Office installed as it will only install or update your current Office installation.

    I hope this helps.

    Kindest regards,

    Neil
