Outlook problem.

I have Outlook for my PC and my iPhone through my cable provider. (Spectrum). When I attempt to check my emails on my PC, a window box pops up displaying my server, user name, and password and I cannot access my emails on the PC. I have not made any login or password changes. When I close the window, it will pop back up within several seconds. I have no problem accessing my emails on my iPhone or directly through my cable providers website on the PC. I noticed that Outlook on my taskbar was notifying me that Outlook was attempting to synchronize my files. I went into task manager and "ended" the task from there. The message on my taskbar went away. I sent a "test" message to myself and it shows up as being sent on my iPhone and being received on my email account at my cable provider. I've attempted this process several times and rebooted several times. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello pitaspa,

    Thanks for sending the details.

We will provide you with steps on how to add email (IMAP) to your Outlook app. Before that, we recommend you get the list of IMAP server settings for Charter emails handy (you may contact your email service provider about this).

To begin, let us create a new Outlook profile. If you can launch Outlook, go to File tab and select Account Settings. Under it there should be Manage Profiles. Choose Show Profiles and select Add. In the Profile Name box, type a name for the profile (Example: Outlook 7/20), and then choose OK. Source: Create an Outlook profile - Microsoft Support

Next is to set up IMAP email on Outlook profile. Select the Manual setup or additional server types and click Next.

Choose POP or IMAP in the service and select Next.

Next, provide the information especially the yellow on the box as this should match Charter email configuration.

Then, choose More Settings ... to get into Outgoing server and tick My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

Then, on Advanced tab, select SSL or else keep it as it is and enter the port numbers.

On the main page, select Next.

Followed by waiting of two green marks on the syncing method. This part will lead to an error if you will have to generate app password or else, please let us know the error message and code.

Should you see this, congratulations, you have successfully added your email to Outlook.

If you are back to this prompt, at the bottom, please select the Outlook7/20 on the Always use this profile. Select Apply and OK. Relaunch Outlook app and see if you still get the same error and update us in here.

We will wait for your response.

    Regards,
    Kathy A.

    Kathy, my reply...

    1. Microsoft Office Home and Business 2019
    2. Problem began 7/18
    3. No. Haven't done anything with Profiles.
    4. Yes. I can access my emails via Charter webmail.
    5. Domain is Charter
    6. IMAP/SMTP
    7. Can't send screenshot but includes Server - mail.charter.net, User name - (my user name), Password - (my password).

There is also a pop up box that periodically shows up telling me that "Outlook cannot synchronize subscribed folders for (my email address). Error: Cannot connect to server." At times the error number included is 0x800cc0E and other times it is 0x800ccc92.

    Hope this is useful. Thanks.

    Hello pitaspa,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We understand that you are trying to use your Outlook app on PC and is unable to because of the prompt for server, username and password. Let’s us check on this together and sort this out. Rest assured, we will do anything in our capability to assist you with your concern.

Before we start with the Outlook issue, we would like to ask for details about your concern:

    1. May we ask what is your Office version and edition (Microsoft 365 Business/Home/Personal or Office Home and Business 2021)? Please check it through this guide: About Office: What version of Office am I using? - Microsoft Support
    2. May we know when did this issue happen? Do you recall adding or removing an email on Outlook app?
    3. Have you tried creating new Outlook profile?
    4. Can you access your email in the webmail?
    5. May we ask for the email domain of the affected email in the Outlook prompt?
    6. What is the email configuration (IMAP, POP3 or Exchange) of the added emails in Outlook app.
    7. Can we ask for a screenshot of the issue? Please conceal your personal information like email address (you may retain email domain) and full name.

There is a possibility that if you commonly use this email in your computer, you may need to update the credential manager for the account password or check the PC settings for the account issue. However, if this email is only related to Outlook app, we may need to check if you needed to add app password instead of email password on the app.

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

    Sincerely,

    Kathy A.
