Switching off automatic categorization

Outlook calendar keeps on automatically categorizing my appointments(giving them a color) while I already preset the conditional formatting colors. So what happens is that the conditional formatting color is covered by the category color that is automatically applied on top. The only way I've found to remove it is manually by selecting each appointment separately and choosing 'Clear all categories'. I've even tried removing all the categories, but nothing works. I can't find the answer online so hopefully, someone can help me out here.

    Dear S. van der Ree,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

Based on your description, I understand that you have a concern with "Switching off automatic categorization". In order to narrow down the issue, please let me know of the following.

    • Are all appointments being "auto-categorized"?
    • If so, are the appointments assigned to one or different categories?

Kindly confirm from your conditional formatting settings whether you don't have any categories assigned under "More choices".

Your patience and cooperation are much appreciated.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Sincerely,
