Outlook 365 - incorrect calendar time zone

Hi,

I used to have the Outlook app for my work emails installed on iOS, but in an attempt to destress and disconnect a bit more, I removed the app and now login to Outlook 365 via Safari as and when I need to check something.

However, today I discovered that while my desktop Outlook programme on my laptop is showing the correct time zone for my appointments (they were created while I was in the UK but I am now in Spain), the calendar on Safari is showing an incorrect time, namely the UK time for the relevant appointment.

What is also strange is that when I checked the calendar at 8:50am Madrid time this morning, the calendar said I had a 9:30am call, but just above that a notification saying "starting in 1h 40m", i.e. the notification reflecting the correct Madrid time but the calendar entry itself showing it as an hour earlier.

I really need to fix this as a matter of urgency. I cannot run a business if my appointments show an incorrect time. FYI my iPhone clock updated to Spanish time correctly, and when I had the app installed the calendar appointments showed the correct time.

    Dear Walzee

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you!

First of all, we apologize for the trouble and inconvenience caused to your work! Based on your description, I have a general understanding of your problem, firstly we recommend that you perform these steps on your phone:

Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and scroll down to the Calendar section.

    Select Time Zone Support.

If currently Off , switch the option to On.

Look at the Time Zone field.

Select Time Zone then start typing the name of a nearby city. (Test on multiple nearby cities for comparison.)

In addition, in order to help you better, I still need to gather more information to narrow down the problem

    • What is your account type? (business account/outlook.com/hotmail.com/imap account/pop account)
    • Do your time zone settings match on the Outlook client and mobile device?
    • Is your problem happening only in OWA (Outlook web app) not in outlook for mobile?
    • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps or workarounds?

Please kindly provide me with the above detailed information what I need, it is important and I will do further research to help you, thank you.

Thank you in advance for your understanding! Your patience and cooperation will be greatly appreciated. Hope all the best!

    Sincerely

Update: I just logged in to my Outlook 365 account using my laptop (Windows) and it asked me if I wanted to update my time zone. I did this, and the calendar in Safari is now showing the correct appointment times. This seems like a ridiculous workaround though. It means that every time I change time zone I have to remember to log in to Outlook 365 on my laptop so that Safari shows the correct time zone on my iPhone? Why does Outlook in Safari also not prompt me to change time zone? And why can't this all be automatic anyway like in the desktop programme? I really have enough to worry about without wondering whether my calendar appointment times are correct every time I travel.
