Hotmail scam?

I have been getting multiple emails from ******@accountprotection.microsoft.com. Giving me a security code, then stating that if I didn’t request this, I could safely ignore it. The email starts with “Hi ———(my email address) and is clickable. I don’t click on it, but have been deleting the emails. Is this a scam? Is someone trying to hack my info? Help. Thx

Is that a single use code? Someone may be trying to break into your mailbox. Delete the email is all you can do.
