You each have completely separate Microsoft accounts, correct?

As I said, when you accept an invite, the event will be added to whatever calendar is in the default data file, which you say is the data file associated with the @hotmail.com account. If you want it to go to the calendar in the Comcast account data file, then make that data file the default.

    Hi Brian,

This is my Microsoft account type--Microsoft 365 Family.

Like I said, when I accept an invitation and click on “add to calendar” it adds the event to my Microsoft calendar. Not my Outlook calendar.

Shortly thereafter an email is delivered to the person, which has not been invited to “family”, with whom I shared the 365 subscriptions.

Using THEIR email address and delivered by

    (“Microsoft Outlook Calendar no-reply@microsoft.com”).

    There’s a glitch somewhere.

Sharing the Microsoft 365 subscription (Family is the only consumer-level subscription that can be shared) won't share the calendar or anything else automatically. How did you share the subscription?

If you make the Comcast data file the default, your events will be added to that calendar when you accept the invitation and that calendar is local to your PC. You'll see "This computer only" folders. Watch out, though. If you ever need to remove and re-add the account, you can lose the contents of those "this computer only" folders if you don't make a backup of them periodically.

If you wish to proceed with changing the default calendar, write back and we can discuss ways to back up.

Thanks, Brian, for your timely response.

Yes, I am using Microsoft 365/Office suite.

Here's my problem. I shared the Microsoft 365/Office suite with another person.

When I get a zoom call notification on my outlook email, I click "add the event" to my outlook calendar directly from the invitation email.

That same email zoom call invitation then is automatically forwarded to the person that I shared the 365 Office suite with.

I did as you suggested concerning data files. My comcast email account is the default email. However, my "hotmail" account is the default for data files.

Should I change the comcast account to the default data file. Or no?

Hi. I'm Brian and I will do my best to help you.

This forum is dedicated to desktop Outlook for Windows, part of the Microsoft 365/Office suite. Is that what you're using?

Assuming it is, Outlook will always provide a calendar in the data file that's marked as default in the dialog found at File>Account Settings>Account Settings>Data Files. The Calendar folder in that data file is mandatory. Outlook will always create one there. That calendar may be local to your computer (for POP or IMAP accounts) or shared with the mailbox (Exchange).

You don't have to use that calendar if you don't wish to, but when you receive an event invite by email, the default calendar will be where it does unless you move it to a different calendar. What's the problem you're experiencing because Outlook wants to have a calendar?
