Outlook closing randomly

I got home from work early today and Outlook, which I usually keep open at all times, was closed. When I attempted to open it there was an error that says the operation failed due to an installation problem, but I didn't install anything. I had to go to the Task Manager and end task on Outlook, which was on the list of background processes. I often have to do this to fix unrelated issues with Outlook.

I went to a dentist appointment and when I got back, Outlook was closed again. I kept the Task Manager open and ended the task again.

This issue occurred once a few weeks ago but hasn't happened again until today.

    Hi AD&FLA,

Thank you for posting. May I know whether you tried to repair Office application program from the Control Panel to check this issue? For your reference: Repair an Office application

Try using Outlook in safe mode and disable add-ins to check this issue.

To start Outlook in safe mode.

    1. Choose Start > Run.
    2. Type Outlook /safe, and choose OK.

You may use the Office 365 Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) tool that can diagnose the Outlook problems. Please download the tool and run the Support and Recovery Assistant on the computer troubleshoot the issue. See: About the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant

Moreover, please provide us with the detailed screenshot about the error message and Outlook 365 client version which are you using, see About Office: What version of Office am I using? for further analysis.

Your patience and understanding will be highly appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Shyamal
