Hi I have an Exchange Online (Plan 1) license that I'm trying to use with the new Outlook for Windows client on Windows 11, however I keep getting the error "This account is not supported in Outlook for Windows due to the licence provided by your work or school". How do I fix this?

In relation to Exchange Online (option 1) accounts being added to the new version of Outlook.

"This account is not supported in Outlook for Windows due to the license provided by you work or school. Try to login with another account or go to Outlook on the web."

Microsoft, please sort this madness out. As mentioned by others, you can add any other email provider on the planet so why would you limit paying Microsoft users who have exchange accounts.

That's right, Microsoft have created an email client that doesn't work with their own paid-for email service but does work with free Gmail and Apple Mail.

    Hello,

Thank you for coming to the forum. My name is Fuad, and I'm happy to help you in the best way I can.

It is worth noting that this is a user community, and we are all users here, much like yourself. While we strive to assist and share insights, we are not Microsoft directly.

I am sorry, but Exchange Online (Plan 1) accounts can only be accessed from the web, you cannot add these accounts to your Outlook desktop application.

Once more, I am sorry about that, the error you are seeing that is what it means.

If there is anything else on this subject you have a question on, do let me know.

    Best Regards Fuad
