So, my outlook at work updated and now the toolbar for mail, calendar, groups, etc is on the left-hand side, rather than icons at the bottom of the navigation pane.

Is there a way to choose to have it back at the bottom as the left-hand side looks awful?

Hi Bee Frasier,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft community, I’m happy to assist you on this inquiry.

As per your description your Navigation bar was relocated after an outlook update and you're trying to relocate it to the bottom . Please correct me if I'm wrong.

To my understanding you're not using the new Outlook , I have done some research on your inquiry and concluded that Navigation bar location can be adjusted to the bottom by applying the following steps:

  1. Open the Outlook desktop app.
  2. Click File, then Options.
  3. In the window that opens, select Advanced.
  4. Under the Outlook Panes section, uncheck the box that says "Show apps in Outlook."
  5. Restart Outlook and your navigation bar would be relocated at the bottom

Kindly let us know if you need further assistance with this inquiry.

Thank you.

The "File" option seems to be missing in the New Outlook preview update. Is there another way to accomplish this, or am I missing something?

There is no FILE button in Outlook for Microsoft 365. Previous instructions for the new outlook were to open the VIEW settings then navigate to LAYOUT. However the navigation pane is not in the LAYOUT section anymore so now how do we move the Navigation pane back to the bottom.

When an app is updated, it should provide MORE options to the user, not less!

    Thank you.

As of 2024 Outlook update, this fix no longer works as the 'File' is no longer in existence. Please tell me there is a way to fix. Also, how can I turn of the 'Tips'.?

I also cannot find the File option, and this new design is terrible UX. There is so much wasted space. Please tell us how the navigation can be moved back to the bottom of the folders list. Thanks.
