Requesting Functionality to Open, Edit, and Send .eml or .msg Files in "The New Outlook"

Dear All,

I am currently functioning as a software developer and in the past, we have resorted to using Microsoft Outlook Interop API for creating emails from our desktop applications. However, since 'The New Outlook' appears not to be supporting the said API, I am seeking an alternative solution to this issue.

In this connection, I'd like to mention that .eml or .msg files can be created and subsequently opened with the classic Outlook application. The advantage with the classic version being that the entire email can be thoroughly edited and sent. Regrettably, this does not seem to be possible while operating on 'The New Outlook'. When these files are opened in 'The New Outlook', all the email information is displayed but the emailing functions are quite restrictive - there is no provision for editing or sending the mail.

Which leads me to my question: Is there a possibility of overcoming this limitation? Whether there are plans for 'The New Outlook' to extend support for such functionality in the foreseeable future?

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am looking forward to some substantial insights and solutions.

Best regards,

Selim Basyouni

It is finally possible in 'The New Outlook'. You just need to add 'X-Unsent: 1' to the first line of the .eml file. When you open this file with 'The New Outlook', it will open as a draft, allowing you to edit and send the email.

    Dear Eleni Constantinou,

I am grateful for your prompt response. I've taken the initiative to send a suggestion through the Outlook feedback site, hoping that this feature may be incorporated in forthcoming versions.

Nonetheless, I am encountering an issue with our desktop applications whilst attempting to generate emails within "The New Outlook" platform. I am seeking a currently available method that would allow me to create emails programmatically and subsequently open them in the aforementioned platform.

The implementation of a Web-Add-in would require significant investment in both developmental and distribution efforts. Therefore, I am exploring alternative solutions.

I would value your guidance on this matter.

    Kind Regards,

    Selim Basyouni
