I'm running file servers 2012 R2 with DFS and DFSR with remote servers. when the DFSR service starts the application event log is full of event ID 1000 as follows - the event stops if i stop DFSR. also some windows updates cannot be installed during the service DFSR is running. I have to stop it to be able to apply the update.

Not much to go on but might also try from a clean boot.

    Hi Hisham,
    Here’s a similar case:
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-do-i-fix-error-code-1000-application-crashes/19caa618-0ec8-43e5-9544-313f44b42c3a
Based on my understanding, app crash can be caused by a lot of different reasons. For deep investigation and better solution I would suggest that you try a Microsoft Support ticket. If the issue has been proved as system flaw, the consulting fee would be refund. You may find phone number for your region accordingly from the link below.
    Global Customer Service phone numbers:

    Thanks for your time.
    Best regards,
    Danny

    Dear Dave Patrick,
I'll try your solution in the weekend. it is a production server and rebooting will disturb the users.
thank you, I'll keep you informed
