Windows 10 Home upgrade to Pro with Windows Store - issue with business account logins

There has been an ongoing issue with the Microsoft Store and connecting it to a business account, then making app purchases and upgrades using the store.

Example:

I purchased a Dell Inspiron computer with Windows 10 Home edition inadvertently, and wanted to upgrade the Windows version to Pro. I created a local admin account on the computer, and signed into the Microsoft Store by adding a work or school account.

I search for "Windows 10 Pro" and up pops an option to upgrade to Pro so I make that selection. The cost is displayed, and a button to "Buy" or "Upgrade to Workstation" is available. I select buy because I want the Pro version. The other option is "I have a Windows 10 Product Key" but this would be if the purchase was procured offline, which I am trying to avoid.

A Microsoft Store prompt displays and asks to log in, but give you no choice whether to use a personal or work account login. I use my business account login, and I get a message "The Microsoft account doesn't exist. Enter a different account or create a new one". Clearly it is ignoring the fact that I am logged into the Microsoft Store already with a business account, and possibly because it is the Windows 10 Home version, doesn't have the ability to have you log in with business account credentials.

This makes it impossible to purchase the upgrade through the store on the device, and leave you no choice but to reach out to Microsoft directly and go through a lengthy phone support call to get an upgrade license and apply it to upgrade.

I can't be the first person to purchase a home edition and want to upgrade in-place without struggle. Why is this an issue?

Any help on this matter is appreciated.

Thanks.
