Problem getting into Hotmail

For some reason, when I open Outlook/Hotmail on my Chromebook I'm suddenly now getting a screen offering me Copilot in Outlook instead of the inbox that I've always had up until now. There is no way to close this screen - no "x" button - only a link to click for more info. This takes me to.... well... more info about this product.

How do I get back to my familiar inbox?

Thanks very much.

    Thanks.

Is there anyone else out there who can help me? If I can't solve this problem then unfortunately my Chromebook is worthless to me. Sounds dramatic but there it is.

    Hi again,

I'm sorry I wasn't able to help, unfortunately, I do not have any more troubleshooting to offer, there are knowledgeable experts on the platform and I hope someone else will take a look at your issue.

    Thanks, Sola

Thank you for the quick reply, Sola. Unfortunately, none of these steps worked, or even seemed to apply to my situation. As I wrote, I'm trying to do this on a Chromebook so don't see some of the features you write about.

    1. Esc and Back do nothing. Especially as I'm opening the browser (Chrome of course) right to Outlook. So nothing to go back to.
    2. No button or dropdown exists on this browser.
    3. No gear icon either.

Also: typing in "hotmail.com" only takes me to the same Copilot screen.

If you have any other suggestions I'd love to hear them!

    Thanks.

    Hi Balanchine,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconveniences,

Here are some possible solutions that you can try:

    • To close the Copilot screen, you can try to press the Esc key on your keyboard or click the back button on your browser. This may take you back to your inbox.
    • To disable the Copilot feature, you can try to go to File > Options > Mail in Outlook. Under Compose messages, uncheck the box that says Enable Microsoft 365 Copilot. Then click OK and restart Outlook.
    • To switch to the classic Hotmail interface, you can try to click the gear icon on the top right corner of Outlook. Then select View all Outlook settings > Mail > Layout. Under Message surface, select Classic and click Save.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards, Sola
