Keep getting "Cannot send message using hotmail server" on my macos laptop. Changed my password yesterday - made sure also to change it in settings, accounts and everywhere else I could think of (including my phone, where it all works fine). Any suggestions?

    Good afternoon, Jason.

Thanks for reaching out to our Microsoft Community Forum!

I understand you're unable to send emails using your Hotmail.com account on your MacBook due to the following error message: "Cannot send message using Hotmail server."

This issue may be caused by e-mail account settings that need to be changed. Or it may also be a problem with the application or computer you are using to send and receive emails. So, let's work together as a team to get to the bottom of this. But to better assist you I need to ask:

    1. What are you using to send and receive emails? Are you using an email client or application like Outlook where your Hotmail.com account was added to? Or are you just using your favorite web browser and logging in to your Hotmail.com account?
    2. Are you getting all green checkmarks when visiting the following website on your MacBook?

    https://portal.office.com/ServiceStatus

    1. When did you start experiencing this issue? An exact date of when this issue occurred could prove helpful. If not possible an estimate in days, weeks or months will be fine too.
    2. Have you tried logging in to your Hotmail.com account using a web browser on a different device than the one you are using right now and see if the same issue occurs?

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Respectfully,
