I accidentally pressed a keyboard shortcut which caused an email to be moved. Can this keyboard shortcut be viewed or modified?

Hi Brilliant Trans,

Good day.

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

In the new Outlookyou can't customize the shortcuts but you can disable th whole shortcuts , in Classic Outlook you can customize keyboard shortcuts to suit your preferences. Here’s how you can do it:

Using the Mouse:

  • Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon.
  • At the bottom of the Customize the Ribbon and keyboard shortcuts pane, select Customize.
  • In the Save changes in box, choose the current document name or template where you want to save the keyboard shortcut changes.
  • In the Categories box, select the category containing the command or item you want to assign a keyboard shortcut to or remove a shortcut from.
  • In the Commands box, choose the specific command or item.
  • To assign a new keyboard shortcut:
    • Begin with Ctrl or a function key.
    • In the Press new shortcut key box, type the combination of keys you want to assign (e.g., Ctrl+Alt+X).
    • If the combination is already assigned, choose a different one.
    • Select Assign.

To remove a keyboard shortcut:

  • In the Current keys box, select the shortcut you want to remove.
  • Click Remove.

Using Only the Keyboard:

  • Press Alt+F, then T to open the Word Options dialog box.
  • Use the arrow keys to select Customize Ribbon.
  • Navigate to the desired category in the Categories box.
  • Select the command or item in the Commands box.
  • To assign a new shortcut, press Tab until Customize is highlighted, and then press Enter.
  • To remove a shortcut, select the existing shortcut in the Current keys box and press Remove.

To Disable the shortcuts in New outlook follow this steps:

Go to settings

I hope this helps let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions .

Best Regards

The reply tagged as Answer above is incorrect and confusing.

First: You cannot customize keyboard shortcuts in Classic Outlook. The instructions above are for Word 365 (desktop).

Second: It references "Word options" as if the text was copied and pasted from somewhere and "Word" changed "Outlook" but the author missed one.

Third: The picture showing Accessibility Options is for Outlook for Web, not Classic Outlook

    Hope this helps people.

Is there any plan to change this functionality in new Outlook and allow customization of shortcuts?

PLEASE enable the feature to be able to create keyboard settings. This saves SO much time. It is the reason that I have not switched to the new version.
