Why can't I connect to the comcast.net server when I enter the correct email and password?

I am a Microsoft365 subscriber. When I try to add a secondary comcast.net email account, I get a message that the server cannot be reached. The email and password I am using enables me to login to my xfinity account and view my messages through my Google Chrome browser. However, when I use the exact same email account and same password when trying to add an email account to my Outlook application, I get a message that the server cannot be reached. I tried using a manual setup and entered what I believe is the correct IMAP information and had the same problem.

    Hello JEG3###,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand you want to connect your comcast email to your outlook application and having troubles setting it up. Let me do my best to help. Just to set your expectations, we have limited tools to check your account, subscription, and service details in the community.

    Let me ask you this:

    • May I know if you are on new outlook for windows?
    • Have you tried sending a test email from your webmail?

Just want to inform you ahead that new outlook for windows is still under development and expected to have some issues, please try to switch back to classic outlook and see if it works from there.

In addition,  Here are some steps that you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Check your Xfinity email port settings: You can try updating your Xfinity email port settings. Make sure that you have the correct port number and encryption method selected.
    2. Check your IMAP settings: If you have already tried manual setup and entered what you believe is the correct IMAP information, you can try checking your IMAP settings again. You can find the correct IMAP settings for Comcast email accounts in and try setting up your email account again.
    3. Check your firewall settings: If you are still unable to connect to the comcast.net server, you can try checking your firewall settings. Make sure that your firewall is not blocking Outlook from accessing the internet.

If the above steps won't work, please submit feedback to new outlook for windows to our Development team: Contact support and provide feedback in new Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Support

Let me know further so I can help more!
