Problem installing Office Pro Plus 2013

I have been running Office Pro Plus 2010 since I first purchased it. However, following an upgrade by my POP3 mail provider, Outlook 2010 can no longer authenticate to their mail servers. I also have an installation DVD for Office Pro Plus 2013 that I purchased in 2013 but have never installed. I now wish to install it (or at least the Outlook 2013 part) in order to be able to communicate with my email provider.

Unfortunately, I have discovered that Office Pro Plus did not come with a product key. Instead, a sticker on the disk states I should use the 25 character product key to be found in the "install from a disc" link under the Account Options section on the Office My Account page www.office.com/myaccount.

I cannot find this link - probably hardly surprising given the time delay.

Is there any way for me to install Office Pro Plus 2013 from my (genuine) installation DVD?

Thanks for any advice.

    Hello,

Yes, the new Outlook should support POP3, support for 3rd party accounts. Reference: https://support.microsoft.com/office/656bb8d9-5a60-49b2-a98b-ba7822bc7627

About purchasing only the Outlook 2021, you can purchase Microsoft Outlook 2021 as a standalone application for Windows without the other components of Office 2021.

Microsoft Store: Microsoft Outlook (PC or Mac): This standalone version is compatible with Windows 11, Windows 10, and macOS. Price: $159.99. You can find more information and download options on the Microsoft Store page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/p/outlook/CFQ7TTC0HLKQ?activetab=pivot:overviewtab

    Kind Regards, Myk

    One further question:

Can Outlook 2021 for Windows be purchased from Microsoft on its own (without the other elements of Office 2021), and if so how much does it cost?

Thanks very much for your reply. I suspected that I wouldn't be able to use my DVD installation disk for Office 2013, but wanted to confirm that this is the case.

I do not want to move to a subscription version such as Microsoft 365. I was not aware of Outlook for Windows - I had had a quick look at Microsoft Mail but not really impressed. I guess Outlook for Windows might be better, so I might give it a go, but could you advise me whether or not Outlook for Windows supports POP3 with external email services.

If it does, I might give it a try, but if not then I'll probably settle for something like Mozilla Thunderbird although I don't particularly like it either.

    Thanks again.

    HM

Hello HMckn, thanks for coming into forums. I'm Myk, an Independent Advisor and I'll be more than happy to help you.

Usually, a product key is given together with an installation DVD, as the installation DVD itself only contains the Software for installation. Activation on the other hand is a different process and require the 25-character product key for the installed Software to be activated.

If you're not seeing the product key by going to Office.com/myaccount page, I'm afraid you won't be able to activate Office 2013 even when you get it installed.

Also, the support for Office 2013 already ended last April 11, 2023. All of Office 2013 apps will continue to function. However, you could expose yourself to serious and potentially harmful security risks. Reference: https://support.microsoft.com/office/90e4b0d1-098f-4656-b6e7-8b13b67ed62f

You may consider using the Outlook for Windows app in which you can download from the Microsoft Store app. Or, consider going for Microsoft 365 subscription.

    Kind Regards, Myk

If you have a current win version use the Win Mail app

You wont be able to install O2013 unless you have the orifinal purchase receipt

Office 2010 went out of support Oct 2010 and as of that date no updates of any type from MS
