Calendar - Events from email function does not work

Hi everyone,

When trying to enable "Events from email" feature, i get the message "We weren't able to turn on Events from email for you. Please try again." I have Microsoft Outlook Version 1.2023.1004.400 (Production).

I am getting bombed by spam calendar events and need a way to stop junk emails from automatically putting an event on my calendar.

The online help says go to the "File menu" which no longer exists. It's a bit ridiculous.

    HelloT P,

Unfortunately, I don't have any further troubleshooting to offer.

There are many knowledgeable users active on the forum and I hope that someone else can offer further insight into your issue.

    Thanks Shalom

    Hi Shannon,

When I went to the Calendar -Automatic processing" section nothing was checked - to me that means I should not get automatic invitations. If I check the first box it allows two more check boxes but none block invitations. Thus, this did not work. Any other thoughts?

    Hello ,

I'm Shalom and I'd happily help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

To address this issue and prevent spam calendar events from cluttering your calendar, you can follow these steps:

    1. Update Outlook: First, ensure that you have the latest version of Outlook installed. Software updates often include bug fixes and improvements, which may resolve the issue you're facing.
    2. Disable Automatic Calendar Processing for Email Invitations:
    • Open Outlook.
    • Click on the "File" tab in the top left corner (despite the online help's outdated instructions).
    • Click on "Options" at the bottom of the menu to open the Outlook Options window.
    • In the Outlook Options window, select "Calendar" on the left-hand side.
    • Under the "Automatic processing" section, find the "AutoAcceptInvitations" option and set it to "AutoAccept" or "AutoDecline."
    • Click "OK" to save your changes.
    1. Check Junk Email Settings:
    • Go to your Outlook settings.
    • Click on "View all Outlook settings."
    • Navigate to "Mail" > "Junk email."
    • Review your junk email settings and ensure they are configured to your preferences. You can set the level of filtering and specify safe senders and domains.

    Best Regards, Shalom
