My Outlook Inbox view kept changing on its own suddenly.

I tried changing and resetting the view to the default Compact version, but it does not work.

    Hi @RE ,

What's the version of your Outlook? (File > Office Account > About Outlook). Please make sure you have upgraded your Outlook to the latest version.
Do you mean you can't change the view to a default view, or the view change to another view again after you change the view to the default view?
And before the issue occurred, did you do any specific operations, such as install some third-party programs?

As I know, if you configure your account as an Exchange account, the view settings in the outlook client are stored in a data file and synchronized to the mail server. So if you log in to your email account on another device, the settings will be synchronized. It is suggested that you could check if your account was configured in other device.

According your description, I noticed that you have tried to reset the view, as I know, you can go to View tab>Current group>click on Reset View, as shown in the below figure. Please confirm whether you reset the view settings by this method.

If your client is a newer version of outlook, in order to avoid problems as much as possible, it is recommended that you uncheck this option(File>General).

In addition, as I know, there's such a command to reset the view settings: win+R> type: outlook /cleanviews.(This command will delete all custom view settings. If you need to keep other view settings, please remember to back up.)

If you don't log in to your account on another device or you don't change the view on the outlook client on another device, considering the impact of some add ins, It is suggested that you try to start outlook in safe mode(win+R>type: outlook /safe) to check whether it works normally. If this is still the issue in safe mode, it is suggested that you could try to create a new profile(control panel>mail>show profile>new) and add the account for testing to check if there are some differences.

Hope the above help! If your issue has any update, please feel free to post back.
