Deleted items from shared mailbox goes to my personal deleted items

We have two shared mailboxes where the deleted emails go to my personal deleted items instead of the deleted items in the shared mailbox itself. The other shared mailboxes in our organization do work just fine. Everyone in our organisation has this issue on those two shared mailboxes.

I did add the delegatewastebasketstyle registry key with data number 4 like you should.

I already tried these actions;

  • Disabling automapping

  • Removing and adding permissions on these shared mailboxes.

I'm running this version of W11

    Dear Ilyass,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist!

Based on your description regarding "Deleted items from shared mailbox goes to my personal deleted items". It seems you wrote delegatewastebasketstyle with small letter, kindly try to write it like this "DelegateWastebasketStyle" to see if you face same behavior. Items that are deleted from a shared mailbox go to the wrong folder in Outlook - Outlook | Microsoft Learn

If the issue persist, would you mind offering me below information:

    • May I know your current environment? Is It Exchange Hybrid, on-premises exchange (Exchange server) or pure cloud?
    • Would you mind providing the screenshot which shows the outlook version you are using? to check this kindly go to File-->Office Account

We are looking forward to your response.

    Best regards,

I have this same issue and go to make this edit but the office folder is not in the registry. I have no updates available for office or windows and am on windows 11. Is there another workaround?

    Hi Inema,

Thanks for helping us out! I really appreciate it!

I changed the key to DelegateWastebasketStyle, it still doesn't work.

May I know your current environment? Is It Exchange Hybrid, on-premises exchange (Exchange server) or pure cloud?
