Unable to disable "Stop processing more rules in Outlook.com" (Hotmail)

Not only is this setting enabled by default but if the criteria matches the rule, there is no way to allow Outlook to CONTINUE to process more rules. I untick the "Stop processing more rules" but it enables it anyway as shown in the rules description.

Furthermore, I noticed there is no "OR" option but there is an "AND" option,. The lack of an "OR" option will cause the rule to eliminate from the rule what I don't want or want (confused yet).. For instance, I want the rule to search for Yeti OR parcel in the subject line/body. The message header rule option seems useless as the header info is usually gibberish.

Finally, there is a limitation with the FROM rule where you need to use a valid email address, but spammers keep changing their addresses. Instead, we need a FROM filter that allows to enter just a name, like YETI.

    Hi Adesoji,

Many thanks for the speedy reply.

I think you might be confused or misunderstood about the "stop processing more rules in Outlook.com" option. I am referring to.

Unfortunately, this forum is less than intuitive and intelligent. I can't rearrange the pics below.

By default, this rule is ticked (enabled). I want to disable this feature. I cannot. I tried different browsers and while your suggestions to try incognito mode, that doesn't help.

As my workaround, I had to create multiple rules (as you implied) to help (but not eliminate) the SPAM email from Yeti.

Despite I untick (disable) the option (see screenshot) it still reappears and is enabled. I do NOT want to stop processing more rules, I want Outlook to continue to apply all of them.

Additionally, I also mentioned the following:

    1. message header filter which seems to be useless as it's not doing anything
    2. lack of the "OR" option when creating the rule.
    3. inability to set a wildcard name in the FROM as a filter which only works with a valid email address.

Unfortunately, the images are all out of order. The most recent image shows that Outlook will STOP processing the rules. Image number should be 3.

The second image below shows that I unticked "stop processing more rules"

The final image shows how it is when I open up the filter despite unticking and saving (of course) the filter that I modified to UNTICK (disable) stop processing more rules.

Hopefully that helps you understand the issue.

    Hello Sammy888,

I am Adesoji, a consumer of Microsoft products like you and I am happy to help.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with creating inbox rules.

Usually the “stop processing more rules” works as I tried recreating the issue and it worked. I would recommend you attempt it again in either the incognito/inPrivate window or in another browser.

You are right! The rule only offers “and” not “or” when selecting multiple conditions. In the explained scenario, separate rules can be created for Yeti OR parcel in the subject line/body.

    I hope this helps.

Do let me know if you require further assistance.
