Why has Microsoft removed the functionality to add 'to do' tasks to calendar?

With the recent upgrade to 'new' outlook, I've lost the ability to drag & drop 'to do' items to my outlook calendar (on both web & desktop versions).

This is super frustrating as I found it a very effective digital productivity tool.

I've been in contact with MS support but they have been unable to resolve my issue.

I want to know why MS would release a new version of a product without thorough testing

or, at the very least, fast resolution (looking at the forums, this appears to have been an issue since mid-2023...)

Thoughts?

Outlook New will not be replacing the Classic Desktop version until at least 2029, 6 years from now. As such, it is NOT yet a replacement for it, it is still a work in progress and has a good many shortcomings that will be addressed over the next 6 years. Please revert to the Classic Desktop version to reclaim this functionality.

    Thank you Hal, Will do!

Is that ~the same timeline for MS Teams?

(Some of my colleagues are having issues there so will let them know if that's the case)
