default browser

Question

How do i change the default browser in outlook. Right now if click on an email link, instead of opening my desktop outlook app, it opens the web office 365 app. The pic I've uploaded is what I don't want. I've already gone thru the steps to change my default browser from Edge to Default Browser and I'm still not getting the results i wish to achieve, which is to just start a new email from my desktop app like it used to.

The issue picture you have shared is not visible on my side. However, in order to understand your query and provide possible solution, may I please double confirm if you are referring opening MailTo link or regular link?

• May I please know your default browser for opening links ion your device?

If it is MailTo Link, you may follow the steps below and change to open in Outlook for

1. Open the Windows Settings app by pressing the Windows key + I.
2. Click on "Apps".
3. Scroll down and click on "Default apps".
4. Under "Mail", click on the current default email app (which should be set to 'new' Outlook).
5. under Mailto option, Choose the email app you want to use (in this case, the 'old' Outlook) from the list of available options.

Once you have changed the default 'mailto' links app to Outlook, it should open in the app you have selected which means desktop Outlook app in your case.
