fpefpe, like I stated, only a Microsoft 365 subscriber can add can add Gmail and any SMTP/POP/IMAP account; this is not a recent development.

Did you review the link I shared?

Do you have a Microsoft subscription?

Microsoft has discontinued the ability to add other email accounts to Outlook.com. This change was made to improve security and reduce the risk of hacking and phishing attacks.

However, you can still add other email accounts to the Outlook desktop app or mobile app. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Outlook app and go to File > Add Account.
    2. Enter the email address and password of the account you want to add.
    3. Select the type of account (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo, etc.).
    4. Follow the prompts to complete the setup process.

Alternatively, you can also use the "Connected accounts" feature in Outlook.com to link your other email accounts. This will allow you to view and manage your email from multiple accounts in one place. To do this, go to Settings > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Connected accounts.

Please let me know if you need more assistance.

    Hello fpefpe,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. My name is Raymond and I'm happy to help.

Where did you see this information? Can you please share it as a screenshot. It is my understanding that only Microsoft 365 subscribers can add Gmail and any SMTP/POP/IMAP account as an additional mailbox as referenced in the attached Microsoft support article: https://support.microsoft.com/office/c5224df4-5885-4e79-91ba-523aa743f0ba

    Looking forward to your response.

    Regards
