Every maybe 3 days, I will find my vm turned off. Only I have access to the server it sits on so thats not the issue.
I cant find anything in the event logs of the vm to suggest it was an error of some kind. I've even gone onto hyper-v manager to set it to auto start (which it isnt doing).

Its a windows 2016 essentials server vm thats sat on a windows 2016 essentials server.

The only thing running on the vm is IIS. So why would it randomly turn off?

Might check here in case of licensing issues.

    Hi,

We can first check from below three aspects:

    1. Check if the VM has been licensed or not. (Settings > Update & Security > Activation)
If not, the VM will be automatically turned off
    2. Monitor to see if there is memory issue. We need to always make sure there is enough memory assigned if we use dynamic memory.
    3. Check host event logs Event Viewer>> Applications and Services Logs>> Microsoft>> Windows>> Hyper-V VMMS and Hyper-V Worker
The "Admin" and "Analytic" event logs on host under "Applications and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V-VMMS" should have detailed information on what happened to the VM. You can also check "Hyper-V-Worker" events to see if you can find any anomalies.

    Thanks,
