Outlook linking OneDrive files instead of attaching

I utilize OneDrive and Outlook with work. I attach a lot of files to my emails, often they are linked to my OneDrive.

I have my settings arranged that it asks me every time I attach a file if I want to "Share Link" or "Attach as Copy", no problems there. Every time I select "Share Link", it appears as an attachment under the subject line and all was good.. Up until a couple days ago my files no longer attach but link themselves when I select "Share Link" in the body of my email instead. I have tried a couple different methods but as soon as it links to OneDrive it automatically goes into the body.

I have updated my Outlook to the most recent version.

Please help!

Just saw that they made this a permanent change and I wanted to just come on here and state my displeasure with this change. This isn't an improvement, but a very stupid stupid change.

I am encountering this same issue. I'm hoping someone offers a way to allow for OneDrive files to be included as "attachments" to an email (as opposed to links populated in the body of the email), as it makes it much harder to compose emails this way and to look for received emails based upon the "paperclip" icon in your inbox (it looks like when you send/receive an email with a file linked in the body of the email, as opposed to attached, Outlook doesn't show the paperclip icon above the timestamp in your inbox).

    Thanks!

I found this online- it was a planned update. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/inserting-a-link-as-an-attachment-has-changed-in-outlook-desktop-0ac06bae-e78d-48a8-b43d-15f63d6b8626

To me, this is a backwards step as a major function has been lost, not being able to filter by "has attachments" anymore is just... Very unhelpful. I'm trying to introduce a culture of sharing live files in my workplace, this isn't helping

Well this looks like it is here to stay which is not good.
You cannot search for emails that have an inline shared link, Outlook does not recognize this at being an attachment. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/inserting-a-link-as-an-attachment-has-changed-in-outlook-desktop-0ac06bae-e78d-48a8-b43d-15f63d6b8626 Reply

I'm at an utter loss as to why they thought this feature *regression* was so important? They basically decided to break the functionality of being able to search against emails with attachments, or even KNOW that an email has an attachment! The paperclip icon does not show up at all on these emails.
