Changed phones - lost authenticator

I changed phones at the end of October, when I set my new one up I noticed I didn’t have anything on my Authenticator.

My IT company was able to reset the 2FA on my work email addresses, but I have an Authenticator linked to a gaming account which is asking me for a code when I log in which I obviously cannot give.

I have tried contacting the game provider and they have said there is nothing they can do as I would have been given backup codes but I don’t have them either.

Any ideas?

    Hi Jack,

Thank you for posting on the forum today. I’m Bambi, a user like you and I’ll be happy to assist you.

I’m sorry to hear that you lost your authenticator codes after changing phones.

Usually, there should be an alternate way to sign in in the case you do not have access to your app. Can you find out about this? The app works with other sign in options like an email or phone number.

Also can you add the account to your app again without much hassle or it’s requiring the same code you mentioned?

To answer your question, there’s not much that can be done on this end. The best solution is to find an alternate means of logging in (this is common with Microsoft accounts), I’m not familiar with the game with question and how it works.

Ha yes, if you still have access to your old phone, you may consider backing the data and then using the recovery method on your new device.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.

    Best Regards, Bambi
