Outlook keeps requesting a password reset multiple times a day.

I am having to create multiple passwords a day to get into my email. Once I have reset my password and gone through the verification process, and log into my apple phone the email works for a very short period of time before requesting a new password again. A never-ending loop that is starting to get frustrating. I have reset the password 4 times today and close to 10-15 times this past week. Why is this happening?

    Hi, this is Bryll

Thank you for writing us here in Microsoft Community.

One possibility on why this problem is happening is that there is a glitch in the email service or the phone software that prevents your password from being recognized or stored properly. Another possibility is that you have enabled a security feature that requires you to change your password frequently or use a verification code every time you log in.

Here are some strategies that we can recommend. Please adhere to the instructions in a sequential manner:

    1. Remove and Re-add email account within Outlook:
    • Open the Outlook app on your iOS device.
    • Tap on the profile icon located at the top left corner.
    • Tap on the gear icon located at the bottom left corner.
    • Scroll down and tap on "Settings" then tap on your email account.
    • Tap on "Delete Account" and confirm the action.
    1. Remove and Re-add email account within iOS Settings:
    • Using your iPhone, Go to its Settings > Mail > Accounts.
    • Tap the email account then tap Sign Out or Delete Account.
    1. Uninstall Outlook application from Apple store:
    • In iPhone home screen > Tap and hold Outlook application > Select Remove App
    • Once removed, restart your phone
    1. Update iOS: Updating iOS would help if glitches or bug is being experienced.
    • Go to iPhone settings > General > Software Updates > Follow prompts on how to update.
    1. Reinstall Outlook application:
    • Go to Apple Store > Search Outlook > Click Get > Open Outlook after installed
    1. Re-add email account in Outlook:
    • Go to iOS Settings > Mail > Accounts > Re-add your email account
    • Open Outlook application and check if your email account is re-added

Should problem remain, we will recommend other strategies once we receive your response to our questions below. If possible, please send us some screenshots.

    1. Have you tried accessing your account from a different device or from its webmail to confirm if the issue is either device or account specific?
    2. Have you tried accessing your account on a different mail client to confirm if same problem would persist?
    3. What is the email domain of your account? Is it @Gmail @Yahoo @Hotmail or a work/school email domain?
    4. What is the update build of the Outlook client in your iOS mobile? Go to Outlook app settings to check

It is a pleasure to share my thoughts and potentially support your concerns.

    Yours truly,

    Bryll
