Outlook for Mac doesn't create a Microsoft Teams meeting

Hi,

System info:

macOS Ventura 13.6

Outlook for Mac 16.78 (23100802) (New)

Microsoft Teams Version 1.6.00.27656 (Classic)

I've noticed an issue where events created from Outlook for Mac that have been toggled on to create a Teams meeting do not create a Teams meeting link in the event. Instead, it creates a 'join' button that does nothing.

Example:

Testing this from Outlook on the web browser does work though.

Outlook | MacOS | Legacy Outlook for Mac | For home

    Hello Brandon Nguyen2,

Thank you for posting this case in Microsoft Community!

As mentioned, Outlook for Mac doesn't create a Microsoft Teams meeting link normally. I would like to cooperate with you working on this case. To clarify this case, please do not mind to help to collect following information as shared:

    1. Have you tried to click Join options if it is working to access Teams meeting normally?
    2. Have you tried to test with different Teams meeting created if getting the same case?
    3. Have you checked your Teams Calendar if meeting link showing there normally?
    4. If checked Teams meeting in your Outlook calendar via Outlook for Mac as well as Outlook web in Preview window? (Please Note: It is normal behavior that meeting link will not be showing in Preview window without open Teams meeting directly in Outlook for Mac)
    5. Have you checked your Sent Items in Outlook for Mac if meeting link showing there?
    6. Have you opened Teams meeting from Outlook calendar directly to check if meeting details showing there?

At the same time, I would like to share more inforamtion.

Firstly, you need to re-create Outlook profile or update Outlook as Outlook>Help>Check for Updates and check if working fine or not.

Manage profiles or identities in Outlook for Mac

**Please note:**No matter you using Outlook for Mac or Outlook web on Mac to create Teams meetings, meeting details will be showing directly until you send out the invitation successfully.

Teams Meeting Preview window in Outlook for Mac or Outlook web on Mac.

Also for Outlook for Mac issue, you can also directly reach to Outlook for Mac in app support team, they have required more resources, so should be they assist you quickly with their resources. To contact them , kindly go to Help > contact support or check with Contact support within Outlook for Mac - Microsoft Support.

Your understanding and patience will be appreciated.

    Thank you!

This is an issue we're seeing as well. The only solution I was able to figure out was to switch back to the legacy Outlook. The "New Outlook" has other issues as well on macOS Sonoma. Once you switch back to the legacy Outlook, you should see the Teams meeting option from Eleni's post. Hopefully Microsoft resolves this on macOS in the coming weeks. If you use OWA, you'll see the same Teams meeting toggle switch there; it works in a web browser, just not the "New Outlook" app on macOS.

You can switch to or from the "New Outlook" in the Microsoft Outlook menu.

    Hopefully this helps.

    Hi Eleni,

Thank you for your quick response. I've just tried everything you've suggested without any luck, unfortunately.

    1. Have you tried to click Join options if it is working to access Teams meeting normally? I did try clicking on the Join option in Outlook - nothing happens. In my Teams calendar there is also no Join button for the meeting that is created in Outlook.
    2. Have you tried to test with different Teams meeting created if getting the same case? Sorry, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this, but I did try this multiple times. Other colleagues on macOS are also experiencing the same issue.
    3. Have you checked your Teams Calendar if meeting link showing there normally? In the Teams calendar there is no meeting link. I can only see links for meetings I've created within Teams.
    4. If checked Teams meeting in your Outlook calendar via Outlook for Mac as well as Outlook web in Preview window? (Please Note: It is normal behavior that meeting link will not be showing in Preview window without open Teams meeting directly in Outlook for Mac) There is no meeting link in the preview or full details of the meeting in Outlook calendar / Outlook for Mac.
    5. Have you checked your Sent Items in Outlook for Mac if meeting link showing there? No meeting link shown there either.
    6. Have you opened Teams meeting from Outlook calendar directly to check if meeting details showing there? Yes, nothing is shown there either, unfortunately.

Great to hear there's a workaround. A bit painful to keep switching between the legacy and new Outlook and go through the process of syncing/indexing emails. Would like to see Microsoft fix this issue in the upcoming update.
