Default text direction in the new outlook

Hello,

I'm "new" to outlook after not working with it for ~10 years...

I'm struggling in finding a way to set the default text direction to RTL when composing emails (or replying).

No matter what I found on the web - it doesn't help me in finding the location of such a setting.

Either I get guidance for "Outlooks old interface" (classic outlook), or if I get guidance for the new interface - the explanation doesn't match the UI and options I see. I'm using Microsoft 365 for Business.

Can someone help please?

Thanks,

Yaniv

    Hi Eleni,

First - thanks for the quick reply. I started going nuts thinking I'm missing something out. As to your reply, I understand that this option just wasn't added yet to the new interface.

I'll keep an eye on updates, since this behavior is quite basic for people who their writing language is RTL...

    Thanks again,

    Yaniv

    Hi,

Thank you very much for the effort,

but this is not a new outlook.

There is no way to change it as you describe on new outlook.

    Thanks Ronen.

    Hello Yaniv Vararu,

Thank you for posting this case in Microsoft Community!

Based on your description, I understand your query here but if you are using the new outlook, you may need to change left to eight alignment to right to left alignment when ever you want to compose or reply to the email. Please note, since the new outlook is still under active development, Microsoft is constantly working on improving their products and adding new features. I suggest keeping an eye on the Microsoft Outlook blog Things to look forward to in the new Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Community Hub or the Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365 for any updates on this feature. In the meantime, I do apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and I will pass along your feedback to the appropriate team for consideration in future updates. I will also update here once I get additional information and the specific timeline for the feature will be added. Appreciate your patience and understanding. Therefore, you can edit a new email and access Format textoptions to check in Paragraphline in the new outlook. You will find the Right-to-leftoptions to click and set up this as below capture shared:

However, if you are using classic Outlook for windows version, you may go to Format Textoptions when editing new email and click on the little square arrow on the bottom right portion containing the Paragraphoptions on that tab (this will open the paragraph dialogue) -> select alignment "Right" -> Click the Set as Default button at the bottom -> click "OK". For more information, you may check this article as reference Using right-to-left languages in Office.

If you need further assistance, please feel free to let me know, I will keep assisting you.

Your understanding and patience will be appreciated.

    Thank you!
