It’s not allowing me to sign in to my outlook account through the mail app it keeps saying Cannot Create Account

An identical Outlook account already exists. How do I fix it ?

    Dear Darius Bass,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community. 

    It looks like you clicked on the wrong option in Apple Mail to log into your Outlook account resulting in not being able to successfully add the account.

    According to the reported error you should have incorrectly selected the option to create a new Microsoft account instead of entering the email address directly, please follow the guidelines in the image to access the Outlook account.ImageImage

    If the problem persists, then you need to access the Microsoft account URL using your browser to make sure that the account can be logged in properly.

    I am having the exact same issue - i deleted the mail app because it was not updating correctly and now cannot link my outlook account to the mail app despite going through the same process as shown in the above images! To add to this, i tried linking my google account to see if it was a mail/outlook error and i could link my google account! It seems to be an issue with outlook/mail

    I am having the same problem. I deleted the app because it was not updating and reinstalled. I can sign in on browser, but on app it says already exists. Please advise if you found a solution
