Sharepoint 2019 on-prem/Onedrive sign in problem "There was a problem signing you in Code: 0x8004de81"

Need assistance with an error that appears when clicking the sync button from a sharepoint site, which then opens onedrive prefilled with the domain/username. After clicking sign in it returns the error code: 0x8004de81

GPO for "Specify Sharepoint Server URL and organization name", "Specify the OneDrive location in a hybrid environment" set to (Authenticate first against SharePoint Server 2019), and "Silently sign in users to the OneDrive sync app with their Windows credentials" enabled and setup. All have been set correctly, this issue appeared out of the blue with no changes to the GPO. The sync to file explorer/sharepoint was working just fine beforehand.

I am able to sign in as myself with my work email if i open onedrive application by itself (Not by having sharepoint open it), but it still does not let me sync sharepoint files to onedrive/file explorer when i click the button regardless if i signed in prior to that.

Any help is appreciated.

    Hello @Chandler W ,

    Welcome to Q&A Forum!

Error Code 0x80040c81 can be fixed by resetting your OneDrive. Please refer to this article.

To reset the OneDrive desktop sync app in Windows:

1.Open a Run dialog by pressing Windows key Press the Windows and R.

2.Copy this and paste it into the dialog window then press OK

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

If you see a "Windows cannot find..." message, copy and paste this instead, then press OK.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

3.Manually restart OneDrive by going to Start the Windows key , type OneDrive in the search box, and then click on the OneDrive desktop app.

This error means OneDrive is having difficulties connecting to the cloud.

    Thanks,
    Echo Du
