Using classic Outlook for Windows in business environments
Dear Paul Roskilly
Welcome to Microsoft Community
According to your description, I understand your feelings when you encountered the problem, but you don't need to worry, to solve the problem you are experiencing now, follow these methods:
- Remove access to Microsoft apps and services in Gmail.
Close Outlook.
-Sign in to your Google Account at google.com.
-At the top right, select your profile picture, then select Manage Google Account.
-In the left menu, select Security.
-Scroll down to connect to third-party apps and services, and then select Microsoft Apps and Services.
-Find Microsoft apps and services that have access to your Google Account, and then select View details.
-Under Access to Microsoft apps and services, select Remove all access.
-Select Confirm.
- Remove Google IMAP credentials from Windows Credential Manager
-From the Windows Start menu, find Credential Manager and open it. On Windows 10, you may need to open Control Panel to access Credential Manager. For more information, see Access Accessing Credential Manager - Microsoft Support.
-Under Manage credentials, select Windows credentials.
-Scroll down to General Credentials and look for credentials that begin with MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2.
-Expand these options and hover over MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2 until you see the full name, including tp_google_imap_Oauth2. These are the Google credentials for your Gmail account.
-Use MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2 to select Remove for all options. If you have more than one Gmail account, you'll need to sign in again for each account.
- To avoid deleting your Google IMAP credentials except for a specific affected account, you can map the credentials by comparing them to the identity in the registry entry below. Open Registry Editor and paste this path into the top address bar. Computer
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\Identities - The registry entry above contains your Gmail identity. The Identities registry entry starts with a number that matches your Gmail credentials in Credential Manager. For reference, see the example below.
After completing the above steps, you can now sign in via browser from Outlook. Open Outlook to find the Outlook profile that isn't synchronized, and then select the Sign in through browser business field in Outlook. Make sure that when you sign in through a browser, select the Microsoft apps and services check box mentioned at the top of this article.
If you removed the Gmail account from your Outlook profile, choose Add Account on the File menu to add the Gmail account again, and then go through the browser sign-in process again.
