    Dear Nuno Pereira7,

    Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, if your mail provider does not support the Exchange protocol, it is recommended that you continue to use IMAP. You need to register a personal mailbox with an Outlook.com domain name to use Exchange.

    Dear Nuno Pereira7,

Good day, welcome to Microsoft Community.

From your description, I understand that you encountered some questions when adding an email account to the Outlook app. You are currently using the IMAP protocol, and you want to change to use the Exchange protocol. Do I understand your issue correctly?

For this question, I need to explain to you that, in Outlook, the Exchange option requires the email provider to support this protocol before it can be used. Microsoft's email domain names (such as outlook.com/hotmail.com/msn.com/liove.com) all support the Exchange . I would like to confirm with you whether your current email @outlook.pt belongs to a third-party email or a Microsoft email. If it is a third-party email, you need to contact the email provider to confirm whether it supports Exchange and obtain the relevant configuration parameters.

I hope this answer solves your doubts. If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to us.
