Why aren't my add-ins showing in the Outlook Classic interface?

Outlook add-ins do not show on my Outlook interface when I create a new email. Specifically, I'm trying to use Hubspot, Zoom, and Calendly. They were working fine earlier this week and then disappeared.

The web version shows that the add-ins are installed but Hubspot LogIn is greyed out.

I have tried all of the solutions below, including reinstalling the software and upgrading my subscription, though nothing has worked

My Microsoft account is through GoDaddy, though they were unable to offer reasonable support.

24H2 Windows 11.

Thank you for your insight.

  1. Check Add-Ins Activation
  • Open Outlook.
  • Go to File > Options > Add-ins.
  • Ensure the add-ins you need are listed under Active Application Add-ins. If they’re under Inactive Application Add-ins or Disabled Application Add-ins, follow these steps:
    • At the bottom of the dialog, choose Manage: COM Add-ins and click Go.
    • Check the box for the desired add-in and click OK.
  1. Restart Outlook in Safe Mode
  • Close Outlook.
  • Open it in Safe Mode by typing outlook.exe /safe in the Run dialog (Windows + R).
  • Check if the issue persists. If the add-ins appear, a third-party add-in may be causing the issue.
  1. Repair Outlook Installation
  • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  • Select Microsoft Office (or Outlook if standalone).
  • Click Change > Repair and follow the on-screen instructions.
  1. Check Registry Settings
  • Open the Registry Editor (type regedit in the Run dialog).
  • Navigate to:
      phpCopy codeHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<version>\Outlook\Addins

  • Ensure the necessary add-ins are listed and enabled.
  1. Verify Add-In Location
  • Some add-ins may have been moved or not loaded correctly. Check if the .dll file for the add-in exists in its expected location.
  • Reinstall the add-in if necessary.
  1. Update Outlook
  • Ensure you are running the latest version of Outlook.
  • Go to File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now.
  1. Reset the Ribbon Customization
  • Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon.
  • Click Reset at the bottom right of the dialog.
  1. Check Group Policy Settings
  • If you're in a corporate environment, some features might be disabled by Group Policy. Contact your IT administrator to confirm.
  1. Create a New Outlook Profile
  • Go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles.
  • Click Add to create a new profile and set it as default.

    Thank you for this!

The solution was somewhere between the two steps below.

    Clear Cached Add-ins:
Sometimes, add-ins can become "stuck" in the cache. Clearing this cache might help restore their functionality:

    • File > Options > Add-ins. At the bottom, select Manage COM Add-ins and click Go. Disable the add-ins, close Outlook, and restart your system. Then, re-enable them one by one.

Privacy Settings: Check your privacy settings to ensure that optional connected experiences are enabled:

    • Navigate to File > Options > General and click on Privacy Settings.
    • Ensure that "Enable optional connected experiences" is checked

    Hello ASEC,

Good day! Thank you for reaching out to the community.

I understand you're encountering issues with Outlook add-ins (HubSpot, Zoom, and Calendly) not showing up when creating new emails, despite the web version indicating that they are installed. It's frustrating when tools you rely on stop functioning, and I can see you've already put in considerable effort to resolve the issue.

It appears the add-ins were working earlier in the week, but now they're missing from your Outlook interface. You've also mentioned that HubSpot's login is greyed out in the web version. You've already attempted several steps, such as reinstalling the software and upgrading your subscription, but the issue persists.

To better understand and investigate your problem, I can get some more detailed information from you:

    1. Could you please share me the details of your Outlook version? Follow this article Which version of Outlook do I have? - Microsoft Support and follow the steps to check.
    2. Are you using yourMicrosoft 365 work account(@xxx.onmicrosoft.com/@yourdomain.com) orpersonal account (ending in outlook.com/hotmail.com/live.com/msn.com)?
    3. Could you please share me any error messages you might be encountering

It's great to see that you've already worked through several troubleshooting methods. Let's dive into a few more targeted solutions that might help resolve the issue:

Given your situation, here are some additional recommendations that may help resolve the add-in visibility issue:

Check Account Type: Since your Microsoft account is through GoDaddy, ensure that it is set up correctly as a Microsoft Exchange account rather than IMAP/POP3. You can verify this by going to File > Account Settings > Account Settings and checking the type of account listed.

Make Primary Account: If you have multiple accounts set up in Outlook, try making the account associated with these add-ins the primary one. This can sometimes resolve conflicts with add-in functionality in the new Outlook app.

Privacy Settings: Check your privacy settings to ensure that optional connected experiences are enabled:

    • Navigate to File > Options > General and click on Privacy Settings.
    • Ensure that "Enable optional connected experiences" is checked

    Clear Cached Add-ins:
Sometimes, add-ins can become "stuck" in the cache. Clearing this cache might help restore their functionality:

    • File > Options > Add-ins. At the bottom, select Manage COM Add-ins and click Go. Disable the add-ins, close Outlook, and restart your system. Then, re-enable them one by one.

    Add-ins File Location:
If the add-ins' files were moved or corrupted, this might prevent them from loading correctly. Verify that the add-ins are located in their expected directories:

    • For HubSpot, Zoom, and Calendly, check that their .dll files are still where they should be and haven't been deleted or moved during an update.

Use Web Version Temporarily: As a temporary workaround, you can continue using the web version of Outlook where the add-ins are visible until the desktop version issue is resolved.

Contact Support for Your Account Type: Since your account is managed through GoDaddy, consider reaching out to them again for support, as they may have specific configurations or limitations affecting add-in functionality.

As a temporary workaround, if the add-ins still don't appear, you might want to use the web versions of these tools (HubSpot, Zoom, Calendly) directly in your browser, or consider using the add-ins in Outlook on the web until the issue is resolved locally.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, I recommend contacting Microsoft Support directly, especially considering your Microsoft account is through GoDaddy. Contact Microsoft Support - Microsoft Support.

There might be account-related factors that need to be addressed on their end.

Let me know how it goes, and feel free to update me with any results!

Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation. Have a great day!

Let me know how it goes! Thank you for being part of the Microsoft Community.
