Hi Janet. I am an independent advisor, trying to help other users in the Community with my experience in Microsoft products. Please note that I am a user like you and don't work directly for Microsoft.

To unlink your Gmail account from your Outlook account and keep them as separate accounts, you can follow these steps:

Go to Outlook.com and sign in to your account. Click on the Settings gear icon, usually found at the top right corner. Select View all Outlook settings at the bottom of the pop-up menu. Choose Mail, then Sync email. Under Manage your connected accounts, find the Gmail account you want to unlink. Move the cursor over the Gmail account and then select Delete. Confirm the action by selecting Save.

After completing these steps, your Gmail account will be unlinked from your Outlook account, and you can manage them as separate entities

I hope this helps . Regards

    Femi

There is no "Select View all Outlook settings at the bottom of the settings pop-up menu"

    There is no sync option.

There is no option anywhere in SETTINGS to stop Outlook.com and Outlook 365 from collecting and forwarding my gmail emails I've spent the last hour coming through the settings and through webpages and APPARANTLY there is no way on the internet to decouple my gmail email from Microsoft Outlook.com and Outlook 365.

So, does anyone out there have a clue on how to decouple the two email accounts?

I have figured out how to unlink. Log in to your Gmail account and at the top select the gear icon for settings. Select "See All Settings" at the top, Select Accounts and Import, then go to Check Mail From Other Accounts and click Unlink on the email you want to unlink.

    Hope this helps!

I have a similar issue. When I try to log in to various services using my outlook.com email address and password, these services log in fine, but show that I am logged in using my google account. There seems to be some link between the two that I want to break.

I'm hoping to move my data and email services to a Microsoft subscription, but I need to resolve this first. I want the two accounts to work separately.

I have confirmed, as per the above instructions, that the "primary alias" is, and has always been, set up as my outlook.com account, so that is not the issue.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Hello Janet,

I am sorry about your lost Outlook emails. The emails might have entered any of your folders. Look for the emails in the "Deleted items" folder. If they are not there, click on "Recover items deleted from this folder" at the top of "Deleted items" folder page.

May I know if the emails were alias of each other?

To know the accounts that are linked to your, take the following steps:

    1. Go to account.microsoft.com and sign in with your outlook account credentials.
    2. Click on the human icon (Your info) on the left pane.
    3. Scroll up, go to Account info section and click on "Edit account info".
    4. You will see all the accounts linked to your account.
    5. Click on "Remove" beside the one you want to remove.

If your Gmail account is the primary alias, make your outlook account the primary alias by clicking on "Make primary" before removing the Gmail account.

If you want to remove your Gmail account from your Outlook desktop app:

    1. Click on the gear icon (Settings) at the top right side of the Outlook window.
    2. Click on Accounts then click on Email accounts.
    3. Click on "Manage" beside the Gmail account you want to remove the click on "Remove".

I hope the above steps help.

    Best Regards, Rita.
