Hey everyone,

Just hoping someone can help me.

I need to change the email address where the single use codes get sent to - I have no access to the email address or the phone number that is attached to it so I need to change it to an email I do have access to. But how do I change this?!

Please help

    Hello, Jen2713

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I realize that you've encountered a problem when changing the security information of your Hotmail account.

First of all, understand this, as Microsoft is very protective of the security and privacy of user accounts. For account data, no community member can access the server's backend data to restore it. Account data is stored on highly encrypted servers, and very few people have access to these servers.

For your current situation, filling out the account recovery form is one way to try to regain access to the account. Of course, you need to use an accessible work email account. And fill in as much information as possible about any Microsoft services that this account might use. The more information you provide when filling out the form, the better the chances of regaining access to the account.

The account recovery form requires enough information to prove that you are the owner of the account. The account recovery process can be time-consuming, but providing as much information as possible from the beginning of the process will increase the likelihood of automating the verification of the process. You'll need to keep trying until you're verified by Microsoft. Remember to use a familiar device from which you regularly access your Microsoft account, as well as a familiar location. Microsoft will review your response and respond within 24 hours. If you are verified, you will receive instructions on how to log back into your account, or if you are not verified, you will need to submit the account recovery form again. You can do this up to 2 times every 24 hours.

You can find the window to fill out the account recovery form here: Help with the Microsoft account recovery form - Microsoft Support

If you are still unable to access your account after waiting for a period of time, I suggest you contact our online agent to check the status of the account for you. Because the community forum is a public community, in order to protect user privacy information, we cannot access any user privacy information. Relevant data, so I can't query your account directly for you, but I can point you in the right direction.

Specific steps required to contact an online agent:

    1. After typing Contact - Microsoft Support, type "Account issues" in the search box
    2. Click Sign In and contact support at the bottom of the page.
    3. Sign in with your Microsoft account. (Note: You can only log in using your personal MSA, when you log in using your company account, it will not display correctly. If you can't sign in to that account, you can use another account or create a new account to manage it.)
    4. Under Products and Services, select Microsoft 365 and Office options.
    5. Under Categories, select Manage Account Security.
    6. Click "Chat with a support agent." Then, fill in the contact information where the online agent can contact you.

Feel free to contact me if you need any further assistance.

    Best regards

    Hey Cece,

    Thank you for you reply.

I'm not sure if I wasn't clear or maybe you misunderstood.

On the image I uploaded to the original post - the email where the single use codes get to sent to - the one ending @yahoo.com << we have absolutely no access to this account, the person who owns this account is not in communication with us at all and that will not change.

I need to change that email address, I can sign into the hotmail account without issue, but that email address for the single use codes needs to be removed and replaced with one that we can use if something goes wrong.
