Unable to build android version after updating packages

No app changes, but get errors:

seems to be related to xamarin,google.android.material

Did you set the Android target framework to the Android 10.0 like following screenshot?

If you set the android 10.0, but this issue is still existed, please share a demo here or give me steps to reproduce this issue,

Same issue here. (VS 16.10.3 Windows. Android 9 and 10)

Tried downgrading and reverting changes

Tried updated JDK (did get additional JAVAC0000: error: ShellItemRenderer is not abstract and does not override abstract method onNavigationItemSelected(MenuItem) in OnItemSelectedListener public class ShellItemRenderer)

@Anonymous - yep tried bot 9 and 10. Also reverted changes still problem exists after updating VS and Xamarin Forms

Same error about ShellItemRenderer and TabbedPageRenderer after updating. VS 2019 on Windows.

So bloody tired of mobile development, every day something is broken, either Xamarin or VS or third party component etc, no time left to actually develop anything :(

I tried to update the packages Xamarin.AndroidX.AppCompat and Xamarin.Google.Android.Material and got build errors asking to install Xamarin.AndroidX.Core and Xamarin.AndroidX.RecyclerView packages and i was able to build successfully but when i try to deploy to device i am getting below errors.

Above issue was observed in Visual Studio for Mac version 8.10.5(build 16)

I create a new project, but I cannot get the same error(My xamarin.forms nuget package is 5.0.0.2012, VS for window is 16.10.0), could you share a demo about it?

I was trying to update a bunch of packages in addition to above, one of the other package was Xamarin.Forms update from 5.0.0.2012 -> 5.0.0.2083

I think this is causing the issue as i get conflict messages similar to given below

Detected package version outside of dependency constraint: Xamarin.Forms 5.0.0.2083 requires Xamarin.Google.Android.Material (>= 1.2.1.1 && < 1.3.0) but version Xamarin.Google.Android.Material 1.3.0.1 was resolved.

Do you use this Xamarin.Forms.Visual.Material? If so, please check the dependencies, it only support requires Xamarin.Google.Android.Material (>= 1.2.1.1 && < 1.3.0)

For me now it's solved, the problem was that installing xam forms 2021and after 2083 made many mistakes in terms of dependences, because 2083 has older dependencies (see AndroidX.core, google.material...). Now for me it's ok but the question is "Why 2083 has older dependences???"

I'm pretty sure you need an existing project and not a new project.; it's the VS or Forms update that kills existing projects, I think.
When you ask for a demo, what do you mean? A video of the compiler returning the error? :-) Project, or project files, or source code?

Update to XF5 SR5 5.0.0.2125 to fix the issue as it has a fix for it included. Here you can use latest material package.

I did not have this xamarin.google.android.material installed but by installing version 1.3.0.1 it solved the error

xamarin.google.android.material in its version 1.3.0.1, as in the last version, mono.Android its version must be 9, however mono.Android in XF 5.0.0.2012 onwards already mono.Android is version 11, at installing it gives error in mono.Android
