Word No Longer Spell Checking Marginal Comments

Hi there! Hopefully someone can help me out with this. I cannot get Word 2019 to spell check marginal comments any longer. It used to, but at some point, it stopped doing it (I have a lot of ELL students who will submit papers to me with different language settings, so somewhere along the way, my settings probably got messed up). It will sometimes autocorrect words for me that I mistype or misspell, but in general, it's just not spell checking marginal comments anymore. Word does still spell check in the paper--just not the marginal comments. I really need this feature to work properly because I use Word constantly to teach, and I sometimes misspell or mistype words and don't catch it!

    With the new comment feature, spellchecking won't occur after a comment has been posted.

    On the other hand, if you are saying that no spellchecking occurs as you are composing the comments, check if the Comment Text style has been defined to include the "Do not check spelling or grammar" attribute.

    @Liardae ,
    Welcome to Q&A forum!

    Please check whether StefanBlom-6438's reply is helpful.

    Besides, does this issue occur in all Word files or specific files? You could create a new file to check whether this issue exists.
    Then please try the following to check this issue.

    1. Open the document with the issue, go to Review>Language>Set Proofing Languege to uncheck "Detect language automatically" and "Do not check spelling or grammar".

    2. Go to File>Options>Proofing and go to the bottom, uncheck "Hide spelling errors in this document only", then click Recheck Document.

    If the above do not work, please go to Control Panel to repair Office to have a check.

    Any updates, please let me know.
