dears,
we have an issue with change of functionality of F4 key after Office upgrade to Click-to-run Office 2016.

  • for normal text the Repeat function of F4 works well
  • it doesnt do anything though, when automatic proofing/correction tool is on
    Example: if user writes „(c)“ , the tool changes it automatically to „©“.
    if F4 is pressed afterwards, nothing happens
    (in the earlier word version it was working though!)

we are wondering if this is a known Word bug or if this is not supported feature in the newest Word version.
please let us know, many thanks!

    @Tomas JOSKA ,
    Welcome to Q&A forum!

    > we have an issue with change of functionality of F4 key after Office upgrade to Click-to-run Office 2016.

    << Does Click-to-run Office 2016 refer to Microsoft 365?
    Please open Word and go to File>Account to review the product information and share it with us.

    Per my test, I found that "©" in Word 2016 can be copied normally by F4.
    And I reproduced you issue in Word for Microsoft 365, but I found that after the automatic correction to "©", pressing Enter and then F4 will copy the entire contents of the "©" line. Please have a check.

    Per my research, I think you could refer to Suzanne S. Barnhill's reply in this thread.
    And I suggest you go to File>Feedback in Word to submit your suggestions about this issue to Microsoft directly.

    For more information about F4 key in Word, please refer to Keyboard shortcuts in Word.
    Hope the information could be helpful to you.
