"User name already exists in this directory" when attempting to invite Work Account

I'm currently transitioning from my Personal Account to a Work Account in my organization. But I'm having a lot of trouble adding my own Work Account as a user inside Azure AD for a specific directory in another organization since I already have a user there with my Personal Account. I can't just remove my Personal Account as it's currently the user I'm using. This seems like an odd limitation given the work/personal account design.

What can I do to fix this?

@Patrick Grønbæch Christensen Thanks for reaching out.

The scenario happens when you have Microsoft Live account and Work account with the same email ID.
    Try following steps :

    1) Sign in to the Microsoft Live account website with the affected account.
    2) Select Your info tab.
    3) Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
    4) Under Account alias, select Add email to add another Microsoft account to this account.
    5) Select Make primary next to the added alias.
    6) Select Remove next to the previous account (your work account).
